Will I fit in a Taimar?
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm thinking about getting a Taimar but I can't remember how much room there is for a long legged 6'2 bloke. It must a be good 25 years since I sat in a 1600M. I recall Peter Wheeler was a pretty big guy so I'm hoping I should be OK. Unfortunately I can't try one for size as the nearest one to where I live is probably a minimum of 600 miles away, if not a 1000. I'm used to a tight in and out as I currently have a Lotus Esprit S1. So what do you all think?, will I be fit?. I should point out that I live in the USA so will be looking at Lhd versions. Don't know if the footwells are different or not.
Cheers,
Gavin

I'm 6' 5" and broad across the shoulders...as I said in that linked thread, the Wedges fit me better than the earlier Vixens/Tuscans/taimars, etc. But only if you don't mind the square style - I can understand why the earlier cars have appeal (I've got a wedge and a Vixen...).
Just sayin' ....
I have modded the seat in my Vixen, thinned the cusion etc, as it is pretty tight for a bloke my size...whereas the Wedge works as it is.. Peter Wheeler's influence was felt more in the Wedges and beyond.....

Well I'm 6'6" and 17.5 stone and my shaved head touches the roof and my left leg cant press the clutch (RHD car)........my car does have freshly renovated seats so the padding has not sagged..........I whipped the seats out and sat of the floor and bingo, loads of room so my plan is to find a pair of Elise seats, colour them to make unless i can find a tan pair and bolt them in straight to the floor.........no runners for maximum roof......no one else will be driving her.
Adrian on here also mentioned there is a pedal box mod as well to gain a few extra inches

Although Peter was a tall guy it was Martin who developed the Tasmin and not Peter so that increase in leg room was developed into the cars a number of years before Peter came on the scene the Tasmins development i believe started without my books at hand was 77/78 just as the 3000s was released.I'm 6' 5" and broad across the shoulders...as I said in that linked thread, the Wedges fit me better than the earlier Vixens/Tuscans/taimars, etc. But only if you don't mind the square style - I can understand why the earlier cars have appeal (I've got a wedge and a Vixen...).

Amazing to think that both cars where developed around the same time.
One a leap back in time and another a leap forward.
I wonder if history had been different what other wonderful cars Martin and the team might have come out with.

Hi, just an idea, several people with height issues on S series TVR have swopped for those out of Mk 1 Mazda MX-5 / Eunos, a little more plentiful than Lotus, with good support and range of colours and some even have stereo speakers in the head rests there by saving cutting holes in your doorcards, they mount very low to the floor probably gaining 2 inches or so. Another plus is that the floor fixing holes almost line up with the S standard ones.
Maybe worth a look.
Maybe worth a look.

How's "almost" a plus? Maybe worth a look.
Best,

OOps, yes you are right - my mistake.... Yes it is quite a wide split between the car designs..Was out shopping at a well known office supplies store and had a look at there office chairs and had a URICA MOMENT
looking at some of there office seats some looked adaptable for car use if you are struggling for height remove legs etc and arms and create a Stainless plate at the side to replace the arms which are the integral strength to the office chair this you can create to allow the correct seat rake for your own taste and create a bracket underneath to match the original holes in the car and hey presto a really comfortable seat only 3 inches or so off the floor.
Just an idea but might work but don't throw sell or give away the originals
