Throttle Cable Kent/1600M...
Discussion
Hi!
I would like to renew the throttle cable of my 1600M
with X-Flow engine and original 32/36 DGAV Weber.
The previous owner of the car has built a very special
construction...
Especially on longer trips the stiff gas pedal is a bit
exhausting. Now I would like to know how the original
construction does look to build it back possibly.
Could anyone post an image of an original 1600M or Vixen,
so I can see how it should look like?
I know, most of the cars are upgradet with double webers,
but not all I hope...
Thanks!
Jo

that part is DIY, the bracket on the spindle has been baked on, as is the part going up to retain the cable-clip. It looks as if the original bracket has been turned around (on the two base nuts) as the spindle (to the carb) going in the bracket has originally a plastic bush (hole is probably there still...)
What i will try and do, is to get rid of this whole shabang all-together, make a bracket to fit onto the carb-base studs, i then only need a 'cable' (preferably with spring build in, a la Fiesta Mk II, to fit the square on the bracket)

Might have a pic from when we had the 32DFM on our 1600M, I'll look through them and post one up if I find one.
That didn't take long,
. Don't know if it's the original one, the return spring seemed a bit of a bodge, and eventually, the bit on the rocker cover broke off. We upgraded to twin 40s after that.

We've bought one of these for the Taimar, and then cut the inner cable to length and used our own more flexible outer.

With DFM the throttle butterfly control lever is inboard, towards the engine. With a DGAS it is outside. The brackets for DFMs therefore don't fit DGAS (or DGAV) carbs because the linkage is in the wrong place. I expect I will have to make up a bracket of my own as I have a DGAV.
I think Joho has a DGAS, whilst Cerberus has a DFM, hence the different linkage brackets

Thanks all.
Many solutions for the same thing!
But the image of the 1600M looks interesting:
The throttle cable is coming from the right
and that makes sense (in case of RHD).
My cable makes a loong turn and is fixed from
the left (also RHD). Someone has welded a second
bracket on the left side (Why?).
So this is the reason the cable doesn't move very easy.
The solution on cerberus90's photo would be great but:
I can't fix the spring on the valve cover because there
is no bracket.
Your gas shaft is turning clockwise, mine anti-Clockwise.
But I think I have to fix the cable downside the shaft
and let the spring where it is.
Does anybody know where to get those gas shafts?
At Burton I didn't find anything.
My Weber is inscribed with 32/36 DGAV
