THE CALL
I Heard a Cry
I saw a Tear
Please Rescue me
I am over Hear
Please Bring me Home
I Miss the Fun
Of English Roads
And English Cheer
My Owners Gone
To Roads Above
And now I Need
A friend to Love
I am Very Nice
and had Much Love
My Bits are Good
And Fettled Much
So Take me Home
To Friends so Dear
In Blighty I would
Shine it Clear
Its Lonely Here
And Folks Talk Strange
I miss the Sound
Of English Cheer
So Take me Home
You Wont Regret
The Roads in Kent
Are Nice and Bent
Ill Bring much Joy
And Lots of Fun
So Rescue Me
You Know it Clear
Well I thought I should wait until I had her home before admitting to buying the Vixen that came up here last week.
I had seen the car last year advertised and suddenly it was no longer there so i presumed it had been sold however it did look a fantastic car.
However the reason for is going off the market was there where Probate issues as the Owner had Sadly Died not long after Buying the car in 2011.
However those issues now resolved allowing it to be sold.
The Car is the one that was restored by Allen Bell in Northhallaton and after talking with Alan and finding out what had been done and by who I felt it must be a great example.
Thank you to the TVRCC for putting me in contact with him it made the decision so much easier.
The German owner had also done even more and the History of the work and the file with the car is not only fantastic for myself but should be a great reference point for others as he kept a record of every part used and supplier.
However once we arrived this morning I felt like I had ordered a Fish Supper and been given Lobster the work Alan has done is Fantastic and I am so lucky to be the cars custodian for a time and hope I can do his work justice.
The Dealer in Bonn Alfred Haspel is such a unique Garage and like stepping back in time today and I cant thank Him More for all his Help and if you ever get a chance to but a car from him you will enjoy a wonderful unique experience.
A big Thank you To Richard who came with me and Drove the 300 mile back without a stop quite a job in a little Vixen but she sat at 70 to 80 all the way without any effort those extra horses and the 5 speed box make a real difference.

Hi Brian
smilie when I posted the link to the for sale ad of this car.
Well done!
I know of another liberated Vixen from Belgium coming home soon too.

Sorry about that but she was bought before you struck but I was alerted by Graham as he knew that I was buying her plus a few others
He said others where on to her I was a bit surprised that it did not get on here sooner as usually they pop up here fairly fast.Well Phil I promise I wont bring her to the Kent Meet however I wont promise that my Brother in Law wont as I want him to take her out and get involved with the Club thats my main reason for buying her as well as loving the model the only thing that would improve her would be a S1 rear end as I do love the lights but you cant have what never was.
Today was both exciting and emotional as I went through the car and sorted everything through and in a way it felt like going through a friends things after they have passed on and as Johannes loved his car and especially TVRs he was a friend to us all.
I also went through the secret hide away that Alan created in the passenger foot well as he discovered that Passengers had no where to rest there feet so created a foot rest with a hidden storage area behind it very useful and should have been put in when they where built and it was full of wonderful goodies.
When I asked the seller when I picked it up he did not know it was there.
However Alan had told me about it before I bought her.
I must have something in common with Johannes as the list of bits and tools that are in there is amazing thank you Mate they will be well used.
The car is in many ways not original as the following photos will show but all sensible upgrades to make the car run well and reliable (I HOPE)
Elumination ignition which is useful as I have the same on the 3000s and carry a spare one that came with the car
Power cut off
Electric fuel pump with a spare in the secret cupboard thank you Alan as he left one in there plus total re wire with coloured wires colour coded and modern fuse boxes however I may make something to disguise this however you could take the attitude of the planners on listed buildings that new bits that are added to the building should look clearly new rather than imitating the old you decide?
The Dash is not really original but I rather like the twist Alan has done and used mostly original bits except the switches which badly need some labels as even after 15 years in our house I still get some light switches mixed up if there are more than one.
The Quality of the Trim Detail is a real Credit to whoever did the work I suspect an expert job and even the back carpet behind the seats has another on top so use one for every day and take out for shows and have a fresh one underneath.
Unless that's the norm??
Twin 40 Webbers with a recent invoice for nearly 900 euros for rebuilding and setting up,
Sorry about the length of this but I really think that Alans work needs to be shown and he has promised that he will come to the Pre 80s in September so any vote for the car will be his not mine I hope he takes one home.
I have so much respect for you guys that have the ability and Knowledge to do a complete re build keep doing it please as without your hard work these cars would disappear
Thank you all for your encouraging comments and looking forward to getting her on the road soon heading to DVLA on Friday.

Mine went for MOT today .... and failed :-(
One of the things it failed on was the headlights, was told they are wrong ones and are used for driving on the opposite side of the road. That never even entered into my head I just thought they was all the same.
Looking at some of the other items, the Dutch MOT system must be easier than ours, or the test station mine is at is a
. I'm beginning to think its the latter
So I've 2 pages of faults to get sorted, re-MOT, Insurance, Registration, Tax and reg plates all before sunday or its Chatsworth in the van again, wish me luck !

Sorry I wont make Chatsworth as she wont be on the road and needed here for the family with Father ill.
however did a few bits today went and got a spare set of keys cut as there was only one then had a look at the gear stick as rather confused as there is a 5 speed box however there is wires going into gear leaver and I cant work out what for may well be for a Monit Q20 Rally computer but not sure maybe some of you can help there as it would be good to know I then need to find where the wires are going to there was a GO Pro window mount in the car but no Computer.

Can you spot whats unusual about the rev counter I only noticed myself today

I also went online with HMRC and did the Nova importation form so DVLA have it on the system when I go in on Friday I guess I will have forgotten something but hope not fingers crossed thanks to Alistar for alerting me to needing this I believe it a new thing quite straightforward but another layer of paperwork to keep people in jobs.
I believe the score will be England 2 Germany/Belgium 0 next week when he picks his one up hope we see lots of great pictures of the trip and the car.

The button is rest switch not an on off switch I have gone through the invoices and have found an invoice for Monet rally computer and foot switch and wheel not sensor so I can only presume its been wired for this but no invoice for the gear knob would be nice to find out and maybe re instate and do some timed Rallys in her I will have to get a German speaking friend to look at the invoice file as he may find out more will keep you posted.
However Machine guns would have been nice.

Great.
Warning lights in the rev counter not speedo. Beware Lumenition ignition must be run on a ballasted coil not off 12V the amplifier box, the bit with fins, will gradually fry itself causing all sorts of strange misfires before it finally fails, Geoff
