Is it me or is this bent?

Will i need a new rack or just a new "ball & pin" part do you think?

Also what rack is used for the Taimar?............Triumph?............been on the Rimmers / Moss sites and there are a normal rack and "quick" rack?.

Thoughts and comments all :-)

Does look bent!

I'd speak to these guys before splashing the cash at Rimmers?

Personal choice for road use would be a standard rack, not the quick one.

It indeed does look bend,

Original steering rack is Triumph 2000 if i'm not mistaken

Re track rod ends you want to speak to Adrian, he does low droops

Question remains; why is it bend ? can't really see in the picture, but are the radius arms the right way up(down actually) ?....for reference go to 'buckeyedtriumph'

Glen,

I would be checking the whole geometry, that is, chassis, wishbones, uprights ......

steering rack, if a new one, put in alloy 'brackets', far superior to 'plastic/rubber' ones (plus low droop track rod ends)

re; arb, put in new rubber retainers (and get proper drop links)

do it properly, mate, you'll regret it afterwards if you don't !

do not forget this will make up how your car handles, so very important !

My rack seems to have almost 4 1/2 turns lock to lock! Can this be reduced without going to a quick rack?

The rack is cica 3 1/2 turns when fitted (the uprights have stops which limit the lock)
I believe you need a 'fast rack' to reduce this but be aware it makes the steering significantly heavier. I looked at a fast rack after first driving the M but must admit you do get used to the arm twirling and / or use of the right foot.
