Hi folks. I visited the annual Gawsworth Hall, Cheshire Classic Car show this morning and, while we were leaving in the wife's Alfa, I'm sure I spotted Steve Reid's Grantura - JCU 701 pulling up at the entrance. I was quite gutted as there was no pre '80s TVR presence in the show while I was there. Did anyone else attend? I would have loved to have a look around the car as I've never seen it in the metal, and Steve rarely pops up on the forum anymore.

Hi, caught again. Yes twas I, on a nice day Gawesworth is a great show. Parked away from all the modern TVR,s, twice recently been asked to move it from TVRCC areas by the "sorry mate, cant park 'ere its TVRs only" brigade. We had Lili,s sister staying with us so we took her along, she feels comfortable in haunted houses but she got panicky when she saw the lake, muttering something about ducking stools. No, we weren,t all in the Grantura, they went in my Merc A124 cabrio and I had a quiet (if you can have quiet) in a Grantura drive over, its a car you can really enjoy on your own.

I do pop in here from time to town but dont post too often. Dont know where you are located but if you ever want to come and see it in the flesh ( it does look better from a distance and moving) you are more than welcome to call in and have a look, check out some of the other stuff in the "museum" if you feel the need.

Hi Steve,

Yes, Gawsworth is great in the sunshine. I'm in Staffordshire now but previously lived in Macclesfield, just down the road from Gawsworth, and I think we've spoken in the past when i was buying my 3000M - green '73 that was abandoned in Bowness. Would be great to see the museum, so I might be in touch at some point when i'm next Cheshire bound. smile

It isn't that the TVR club don't recognise his car...They just know what a miserable old bugger he is hehe

Thank you , it was refreshing to chat to someone with "genuine" knowledge and experience of early TVRs. There were so many people around who dont. Hope things are cool down under.
