I've just been replacing bullet connectors in the bonnet wiring of my Taimar and need to protect it all from the elements. Is there anything better I can use other than insulation tape which disintegrates into a sticky mess.

Yes Self Emalgamating tape sorry about the spelling it is fantastic I never use insulating tape on the cars this is what the Sky installers use to tape up wires outside as its totally waterproof if used properly and gives a real neat professional finish if used properly it just stretches and then sticks to itself.

Self-amalgamating type is good as Andrews says.

You can also get plastic sleeving to run the cables through or heatshrink sleeving.

Everyone seems to have their own favourite so try some options and see what you prefer.

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinest... is a good place to look.

I seem to remember there is also a kind of heatshrink which has a sort of 'glue' inside, which seals itself to be totally weatherproof, but probably it won't come apart afterwards....

Just a thought !!

Handy for a lot of things i have even seen it used as a temporary fix on hose pipes etc as once pulled tight it really does work well i keep a role in the car tool box just in case.

How about a bit of this on all connectors before wrapping, just in case the wrapping isn't 100% water tight scratchchin
