Tyre pressures
Discussion
I asked a similar question a while back when I fitted a set of Yoko 195's on my Vixen. I was looking to understand the science in calculating tyre pressures based on elements such as corner weight and size of contact patch. Unfortunately I didn't get very far. So I experimented by driving a 6 mile circuit at different pressures noting changes in confidence, bounce, roll, steering response and tram lining. The result was that I found the best driving setup to be 18psi front and 20psi rear. Slightly concerned running such low pressures I regularly check tyre wall temperature on long or high speed runs but have never found any issue. If anyone could share knowledge around the science of calculating tyre pressures it would be really interesting to know.
