taimar auto choke
Discussion
Set up correctly the auto choke and standard air filter works perfectly well and in 20 odd years once setup correctly works perfectly ..in essence the auto-choke can only be adjusted ONCE in a day and that is at 1st start up press the accelerator once fully to the floor and start the car ....the car should start and be at a high idle adjust the choke to raise or lower the revs and then do the same the next day until you have the high idle set (1200 rpm) Obviously... ensure that the small pipe at the front of the engine (under the thermostat is clear and that the circuit of water ..inlet ..choke..choke.. heater..heater..pipe under manifold..rear of water pump (adding the heater valve and bypass WITH restrictor inside pipe to 3000M's) has free flowing water with no leaks, as the auto-choke WILL close down if you are low on water. For people who have changed to a K&N filter this is the time of year for CARB ICING which will close the carb auto-choke down regardless of water flow and then the only option is to fit a manual choke .....the standard air box with a K&N filter inside ( instead of a paper element ) has the air flap system which controls the hot/cold air and prevents this.
