3000M design considerations
Discussion
This should be an interesting thread
1st up, everyone to their own so it's not important if other people like it.......ok now for my thoughts
Honestly, it looks a bit tacky? The rear under tray will be for look vs function so why bother.
I do like M's with the wider arches / SE........Geoff who has the black Taimar with yellow strip looks amazing.........for me that would be utopia but to my earlier comment........everyone to their own

This M had a different configuration at the front and it looks odd?

I agree, this will make an interesting thread.
Personally, I think the car looks superb as it is, however if I was going to do anything I would find and fit a set of the SE arches.
All the best!
Must say I agree with Henry a shame to alter a classic design I suspect IMOP would devalue the car if you should ever want to sell it on.Personally, I think the car looks superb as it is, however if I was going to do anything I would find and fit a set of the SE arches.

Period OE alterations as Henry says do look nice and should not may even add value.
I understand end value is not important to many however if I asked them that say that again when they come to sell you might get a different story.

some nice arches (not all pictures work anymore sadly) are in this thread, just dropped 2 'new' models, the red car is a bit 'special' with the engine and auto-gearbox and different vents in the front wing and Porsche 914 seats etc etc
I wonder whats the story behind that car and history.

The red one with no 74 on the side is one of my favorites.
And for the topic of modifying vs not modifying.... excatly the reason I bought a TVR M. Long story short, in Denmark do we pay 180% of the cars value in registration tax unless the car is 35 years old (tax will be 25% of original sales value) So I payed 2k£ in tax and 5k£ for the car a total of 7k£. That compare that a 77' 911 SC in resonable condition is around 20k£ a Esprite turbo is allso around 20k etc.
And kitcars is not allowed here (no SVA option), same goes for engine tuning above 20% and chassis modifications allso illegal. s
tty country for car entusiasts.
My original plan was to buy a cheap kit car base (Ginetta G27, GTM Libra or even a Ultima or Cobra copy) and build from there, but after long discussions with the authorities did that plan die, simply not possible to get a licence plate.
So the TVR M route was better, as beeing a series manufactured car (+500 examples) and more than 35 years old shall the car only pass the regulations at that time (quite limited). The TVR is quite cheap compared to the alternatives, and the base construction (IRS, chassis stiffnes, body construction, weight distribution and engine bay space) is close to optimal for my purpose of building a hillclimb / classic race car, for use in the 15B class (modified classics less 6kg/hp).
And as proved, adaption a modern 240 hp engine, modern suspension geometry, LSD etc. was quite easy, and all "maintance work" have been approved by local MOT - with some minor remarks, one beeing that my wheels was not correctly covered by the arches. So now the car is rolling and performing.
Next stage is to get it approved for hillclimb / rally sprints, this will require a rollcage, bucket seats and 4 point seat belts, but that's minor stuff.
And the total cost of the project... so far 11k£ with 3-4k£ to go in order to get 40hp more from the engine, lighten the flywheel, get some Kumho A70 rubbers on, make the roll cage and get a paintjob done. ending the project around 15k£. Having a race ready classic, 280 hp/800kg, 0-60 in less than 5 sec, and still road usable and a joy to drive. Compare that to 20k£ for a esprite turbo, 911 SC, 944 turbo or 25k£ for a race ready escort or Ascona.... or in the TVR world, a 280S is 18k£, a chimera is 22£ a cebera around 30k£
Mine will outdrag all of those at 15k£, and be much more special in all perspectives. And are there a marked for modifyed specials ? that allways a question and never easy to tell, but on the danish scene... normally yes, people like fast and exotic cars, but our tax system prohibit normal people from owning one, so spitfires with v6's, TR4's with RV8's and even E30's with M3 engines sell like hot bread.
hmm... developed into the long story, but will hopefully give the background for my project. And hours spend... uhhh love it

thats a lot of tax and rules in Denmark...
and we thought we had some, well we pay also way to much for new cars...well sportscars mostly since they dropped finally the 42% BPM and 19% BTW but instead they charge now 21% BTW and charge very high on cars with a high Co? so the more bigger engined cars and those who use a lot of petrol, but environment friendly cars pay nothing....grrrr
old cars are free from a lot so they are also interesting over here
and I also like the older cars like TVR and or Lotus Europa type 74 with modern stuff on them.
the best part with those kinda cars is their body is from GRP? and the chassis pretty 'simple' to work on, so way more cost friendly than say old Fiats/Alfa's?Fords etc and mostly more special and or rare too.
so a good choice of you.

The first pic before you messed around with it looked good. Can understand some subtle body mods but round doesn't work. The rest of the car has rectangular lamps. The front should also have the same set up. to be honest the std look suits the car the best in my opinion...but hey its your car..
