Previous owner replaced rear wheel studs with longer ones for aftermarket wheels on a 1971 Vixen 2500 (vixen frame not M). Is there anything I can check to make sure the job was done correctly? The hub has no play or slop in it.
Also would there be any benefit to replace the upper radiator fill tank (horizontal job) with a real vertical swirl pot? I am not sure how effective the original one is.

if they have went to longer studs, chances are they will have converted to pull through splined studs rather than the original screw in studs. they will be 7/16 if they are replacement pull through. to do this you have to enlarge the hub holes to accept them. If they don't rattle about and don't have any tendancy to rotate when you take off your wheelnuts they will be fine.
they may also be ford type 13mm by 1.5 pitch which is also a common mod and nothing to be concerned about.
any pull through splined stud is much better than the smaller screw in originals. If they do have a poor interferance fit then a snot of weld on the rear dome will suffice to keep everything in place.

Heightswitch - Thank you, they do not seem to rattle around so I should be ok. They seem to use the original wheel nuts so the thread pitch is the same as the old ones. Do I have to be worried how they took apart the hub (crush tubes and all). Or are they are replaced without doing that?
Also do you have any thoughts about replacing the original horizontal radiator tank with a swirl pot?

I wouldn't worry. whoever has had the nouse to replace studs for proper ones when they used the correct offset wheels rather than rely on 2 threads on the nuts like some do will have had the knowledge to strip and re-assemble the assemblies..Also do you have any thoughts about replacing the original horizontal radiator tank with a swirl pot?
Which 2500 have you Bought? is it red and did it come from Southport?

It is an extremely low mile example with only 16k original miles on the clock. Silver with 100% original paint interior motor and frame, the only things that have been changed are the wheels, gear shift knob and valve cover (I have the originals)(car was a barn find). yes the studs on my S2 are done the same as N says should not be an issue
