It looks like a very expensive wet dream for someone but neither a suitable road car, rally car or race car in my opinion..
needs work.

Thanks Neilneeds work.

Interesting you should say that I was not going to comment on price at that's the sellers business and the buyer to judge.
Can you elaborate
What would make it a better road car
And
What apart from power which seems low for a race car would you need to address
Andrew

It may be motoring nirvana for someone but not me.
I am assuming the owner is married to a midget or he needed a forward diagonal bar for his overtaking mirror!!

Yes I did wonder about that but I thought you may have other suggestions it would be interesting what the sellers intention was regards competition as track racing would not really need all those lights but there are all sorts of Classic racing or Rallying and not all involve going round in Circles.

From my point Track is not really my cup of tea apart from watching others but road events and hill climbs that's what would appeal to me and re live my youth of 2 wheeled hill climbing

Lots of money asked for a car that is trying to be too many things..
A race car is a horrible road car and useable roadcars seldom make competitive race cars..A road car prepared for limited speed road rallies and historic touring the worst of both worlds..
I would like to see a few underside shots though it must be something really special !

its a nice one I guess but to much things on/in it for my liking
I'm with you GTRene. Too bling for me. Grantura's are so pretty in standard trim, frills just cover up or detract from something that already looks right.
However that said, it's obviously had a lot of time & money spent so no reason to think the underside bits haven't had everything sorted properly. Interested to know why you'd need so many lights for road rallying. 200mph through Keilder forest on dirt tracks, makes complete sense but 30-70mph between 2 towns on tarmac roads???

It's not eligible for any historic events as it has a modern 5 speed box. A fast road engine from Mr Burgess will be 20-30 bhp more than a standard B lump but hardly inspiring and as you say your passengers can't be more than 10 years old. On the other hand I expect it has cost him the best part of £40k or more to build it.
BTW race cars don't have to be nasty on the road, my Grantura is very firm but on a nice A road is a joy with a tractable engine and excellent handling. My LWT E type was one of the nicest road cars I have ever driven - 320bhp in 1000kgs, brilliant handling and brakes and the sound.....
Makes me wonder what my MKIII with 180bhp all steel engine, correct 3 sync SCCR box, all the right bits, FIA papers and pretty concours throughout is now worth.

Richard I know some don't like talking prices so I wont you know what its worth I am sure and its worth even more if two people want it badly enough.
However its worth what someone is willing to pay if its what they want without having to change things.
These days if you want an FIA car buy one its far cheaper than taking a road car and then converting and likewise if you want a road car don't buy a FIA and convert to road spec.
I know it happens look at the Griffith that was featured this month in Classic Cars seems an expensive way to a nice road car.
You make your choice and pay the price.
One lesson I was told by a good friend who has been in the Classic car world most of his life and is now a buyer for a major classic London Dealer.
Buy the best cars that others have spent the money on as the cost usually far exceeds the cost of the car and I can agree with that big time as with the Taimar I have done both routes.

I agree Andy. It has always been cheaper to buy than to build, so long as you get what you want and don't spend too much on converting to what you do.
However
a) you cannot necessarily buy a car that meets your needs
b) with cars in limited supply you could be waiting a long time
Although quite a few Granturas have popped out of the woodwork in recent years, they're still pretty rare. Added to which many of the MkIIIs have been converted to FIA race cars, so if you want a road one or just the odd bit of mild competition your choices are pretty limited. Ms and Taimars are plentiful in comparison

I guess its no different from when they where made the cars racing helped promote the road cars and today when people see them racing they think that would make a nice classic road car etc.
And numbers are limited hence the reason prices are what they are I don't think its fair to comment on the price of this one however there are some spares that can be sold if needed to offset some cost and asking price and final price may be different.
I guess less work to make it a nice road race car replica as that look is rather nice if you loose the lamps but everyone is different.
I have never seen pictures of your Grantura Richard is there any links where we can see her
Andrew
this one looks pretty nice too, although not that perfect it looks good (race only so it seems)
