Vixen 2500 swap for Lotus S2
Discussion
Thinking of selling my 1971 Vixen 2500 for a Lotus S2.
My TVR does not do much, most time sitting in the garage and its a pain to get going and take it out. So thinking os selling and getting a Lotus. I dont need a daily driver as I get the train everyday for work. And want to keep british.
Had TVR for over 20 years so it will be a very HARD decision to make.
Not sure what to do..............

This sounds like a no brainer to me just finacially.
Tvr Free road tax -- Lotus £230 12 months
Tvr apreciating -- Lotus Depreciating
Tvr Classic Insurance --- Lotus Sports Insurance
Thats 3-0 to the Tvr already.
Stick with it and make it more accessible and use it more.

Keep it and find a way to use it more/the way to get more from it.
Sounds like you need to do what the others say and get it sorted its a wonderful car and when sorted would bring Miles of smiles think of the last 20 years like lying down a good bottle of wine for 20 years opening it and letting it breathe and then enjoying it only difference is unlike the wine it wont run out

If you're thinking of an Elan S2 it probably would be easier to get out of the garage. Elan and Europa S2s are tax exempt as far as I know. They are unlikely to depreciate. Europas were often considered to be the best handling road cars of the era. Europa Specials could out accelerate Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
I still think you should keep the 2500 though.

LOTUS= Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious
TVR= Travels Very Rapidly.
Old and boring l know but the LOTUS acronym possibly holds some truth.
As others have said, why is the tiv a pain? Are they issues that could be solved? How often do you try to run it? As with all old cars; the more they are used the better they are.
However, if it doesn't / can't work for you then sell.
