Yesterday my new Cobra RSR seats arrived. They are high back seats with headrests. They are 480mm wide from seat base to shoulder height. However they still do not clear the roll hoop that's installed in the car. The roll hoop is a single 2" unbraced hoop that's been fibreglassed into the body. There is no backward support, nor any diagonal support.

I have to options;

1. Mount the seats angled out at the front. My body will then be facing the front right hand corner of the car and not directly ahead. The seatback side will still rubb on the roll hoop, but ti will let me push the seat back as far back as I need.

2. Cut the roll hoop out of the car. I'd cut it just above where it is glassed into the body. This will allow me to fit the seats at the correct position without any problem. I am considering this option as I do not race the car and the only inpact where the roll hoop will give any added strength is if. I flip the car and land roof down perfectly vertical. Any side movement will just push it sideways and bend the tube.

What to do?

I peeled back the seat covering on my Kevlar seat, modified it to miss the rollover and put the trim back down again...but I see the RSR is tubular.

may be cut off weld in these so you can refit roll at an angle plus some back struts may be cross struts. But if it's just a road car and not driven hard then there's a lot of tvr without roll cages.

I used a sash cramp it did put to very small split on the clamping points.

very quick and a did the job .

removing outer and refitting sounds better if you have the patience.

Nice solution, but my seats are steel tube framed :/
I might still modify the frame if necessary

Got a nice tip about tilting the seat sideways a bit. Will try that tomorrow before i cut the roll hoop out.
