A Long Shot...

I've having a bit of a boys toys revival - someone linked a Scalextric to a Raspberry Pi and demoed remote web-based control...fascinating...

so much so I went and bought a Le Mans track off ebay today and spent my afternoon seeking out classic TVR models... none found except there were resin moulds made a few years ago for Vixens, there are some M-Series ones about too, but none on the market today.

Don't suppose any of you might own one and might consider selling...?

I actually might get my friend to 3D scan my car and then make a 1/32 3D print.

If I made a batch would anyone else on the forum want one? (DYI painting and running gear however)

The pewter finished resin models were originally commissioned as a limited numbered series of 100 of each car. There were Vixen, "M" / Taimar, 3000S in both open and closed versions and a 350i convertible. Unfortunately the makers seemed to later ignore the limited edition ( which were all numbered xx/100) and continued to flood eBay with unnumbered ones. The man responsible has probably the biggest and most comprehensive collection of TVR models, literature and memorabilia, more than 200 different TVR models alone.


He will be at the pre 80s meeting tomorrow and is selling duplicates of many items and if you have greater OCD than him, and a bit of money you may well be the new owner of this fabulous collection.

Was going to Pre-80s but now can't, which is a right bugger as I was really looking forward to squeezing 5 people into the vixen and driving the 3hrs & getting entry for £5... always next year!

If this gentleman with comparable OCD is on the forums (ahem...) I'd be happy to buy a couple of the models from him to a) start with the prototype and b) have one to adorn my desk!

ow..a slot-model, I didn't understood, now you mentioned it and I read it again I understood it better.

I believe I did not seen a slot model of a TVR Vixen before.

Ah - you're on the same trail I was - one set of bodies was made, but very limited run.

Called the manufacturers, Ocar. Resin moulds do not last long so they'll make them on demand, if no demand they bin the tool...

So options:
a) find a model
b) make one from scratch

The pewter model you've linked to would be perfect for shrinking down with some CAD skills and dividers (not sure on the scale) otherwise I'm happy to lend my car to these guys http://www.icanmake.co/ who could laser scan and reproduce the care precisely for their project - given the rarity of these cars it would fit their remit.

A 3D vector model of Vixen S1 would be nice for making 1:1 repair plugs as well!

You could then have plugs for body parts CNC-machined in the material best suited for making repair patches.
