My Vixen S1 has a rollbar that is compromising the seat area and I would like to gain some more room around the seat back.

I have had a look and was hoping someone would comment my idea.

My car has had the bolt on body mod so the rear frame outriggers are accessible.

I was therefor considering fitting the lower legs of the rollcage in the rear wheel well and not on the inside. The cgae would then come through the body in the "ledge" in the B-pillar. The lower legs would need to be bolted to be able to separate the body from the chassis.

I've borrowed a few pics from the picture thread to illustrate.

genius or foolish?

"Genious
It is often the case that idiots describe themselves as 'genious' but are ironically ignorant to the fact that the word is spelt 'genius' - much to the amusement of us intelligent people."

Atleast I got it right the first time wink

I will PM you pictures later. It is very simple to fit. I am not a fan of a crossed back bar.

Any particular reason, other than it not adding much strength, over a single diagonal?

Niels,

Have you thought of where your seat belt mounts will be? If you plan to race, have a look at the sanctioning body's rule book. They should have a section, related to that topic.

My Vixen has had a Tuscan diff arrangement fitted so my belts are attached to the rear diff carrier. I might change it as they are not centered behind my seats. I'm not planning to go racing but might aswell try to comply with some of the rules. Thanks for the reminder.

You have many pictures now. This is an SCCA allowed bar. The tubing is DOM.
