Just bought some new gauges for dads car..

I went for the Smiths cobra type gauges and a few of them have arrived with Injection moulded plastic main cases with plastic threaded studs..

Even the classic type gauges are a mix and match of metal cased and plastic cased. The mechanical gauges appear all to be metal..

I guess this is the future. ??

How sad... frown

ETA There's something rather enchanting about the way mechanical, cable driven speedos bounce around.

I built a digital speedo for my GT6 in 1978 - it was rubbish but it did work when the car was in reverse!
