I have a six point cage in the race car which has a horizontal cross member so access to the rear suspension and fuel tank area would be very difficult from the cockpit.

I have been toying with getting an oversized polycarbonate screen and bolting it in place for easy removability. Either with a rubber gasket, where it overlaps or undersized and fashion a recess so it fits flush.

Any pictures of any examples would be appreciated.

Alternatively I am wondering how much of a pain removing a standard sized poly screen held in with standard rubber surround, I'm guessing not that difficult as most racing TVRs with the large rear screens have some kind of bracketry to prevent it popping out!

Mine I'd standard size into rubber seal. It has zippys at 4 locations (drilled through screen and GRP) Screen has two vents. No issues with popping, 5 mins out, 15 mins back and it's back in.

You're a better man than I! Took me the best part of a day to fit my rear screen but the most time consuming bit was fitting the locking strip. I guess for a race car if you just went for a standard seal and didn't bother with the locking strip but used some bracketry of some description to stop it popping out then it wouldn't take long to remove/replace.

Locking strip in place, wouldn't miss the chance of some bling smile

Thanks guys! So I guess a plastic screen is a lot easier to manipulate than the equivalent glass one. Sounds like standard seal without locking strip is the way to go!

In my previous life we used this tool but it had a small nylon roller to press the bling in place as you go. Very effective.
