Bonnet rubber sections Vixen.
Discussion
Guys.
Having only rough and ready race cars I have never trimmed a vixen before.
Interested to know what trim sections you have used on the bulkhead at the closing edge of the bonnet. Also the flat closing face area immediately above the side vents.
Also the edging trim used on the inner mudguards where they rub against the closed bonnet, I have seen edging used and also an edge with flat rubber lip??
Also fixing methods employed.
Cheers
Neil.

Spooky - just came on here to ask a similar question.
I have quite a hard rubber "seal" (it's really just a rectangular cross-section)between bulkhead and bonnet. It's causing a squeak rubbing against the bonnet. I realise it may be because it's turned hard with age.
So, shall look forward to recommendations for a replacement.

They do some flat rubber for sides.

I found that the sealing area on the baulk head is not deep enough to get a weather proof seal.(the fibre glass lip on the bonnet doesn't really engage on the seal as its too small?) I added a thin gauge stainless plate across the whole width of the cars baulk head,(following the contours) at about 35mm wide x 1.5mm thick (x width of the car).
I fixed this with several 3mm stainless pop rivets. I did use the dense foam seal, but 35mm wide x 8-9mm thick from memory.
This created a good seal even with the uneven fibreglass edge on the underside of the bonnet.
Hope that all makes sense??

I didn't put any seal on the sides above the vent. I just went for a strip of sticky backed black neoprene (very period
) cut to size along the back face and this is only there to protect the paint/body when I push home the bonnet catches. I don't think it would keep water out. My bonnet doesn't rattle and the catches at set to hold the bonnet without the glass edges fouling. Car Builder Solutions do a nice satin black U channel made from hard plastic that can be curved in both directions - looks to be ideal for the mud guard edging. I've got rubber edging at the moment but it's not that hot to be honest.
