Just replacing the fossilised remains of the rear light gaskets. Whilst I was doing it I cleaned up the connections to the bulb holders. One of the reversing lamps had a broken earth terminal so I got a replacement from Adrian. The replacement doesn't have an earth tab - earths through the retaining clips and through the earth tab on the metal back plate for the lights - which on my car isn't connected. Happened to have some GT6 Lucas back lights in stock which also don't have the extra tabs.

When I looked at the other bulb holders they look like the earth tabs have been added by a previous owner.

Can see why someone might think it was a good idea but the soldered on tabs on pretty fragile so I might just replace the bulb holders with the ones I have from the GT6 lights (assuming diameters are same).

So - does anyone else have bulb holders with individual earths or am I just special?

I earth everything made of metal back to the chassis or main earth points.
I generally add 6mm screws with serrated washers to take a 6mm earth tab and at the rear run to a chassis earth point and front a main earth buss bar..
That way if you have a bad earth connection you generally know it is at 1 of 2 points per circuit unless an earth site has snapped??
