Nearing the end of a long & protracted re-build of my Tuscan V6 I need to find some decent rubber to drive around on. It is fitted with TVR finned alloys that, as we all know, were originally with 165/15 full profile. I recon to get the same rolling radius I would need 185/70 (an odd size) or 195/65 (quite common). My local tyre man has told me that the 195/65's shouldn't really be put onto the 6"(?) TVR alloys as they need at least 6 1/2" rims. Any suggestions as to what to fit? (And tyre pressures to run at?)
It all depends on what you want. Good lap times or factory looks. I have a TVR 2500 and I fitted 195/65 only to replace them with Michelin XZX 165/15 a year later. It looks so much better with the classic tread and full profile. I also got a smoother ride with the XZX. And they are cheaper...

Phil,
I have run 195/65 through 195/50 on those rims. There is no problem with them - and the rim size is 5.5J.
What is a poblem is the wheels are not the most concentric of items. Ie they are difficult to balance and keep in balance because the rims aren't machined entirely accurately to the stud centres!!

I got the tyres for my 1971 911 from vintage tyres at Beaulieu. . . they were 185/70/15 speed vated up to 130 - - - vintage looking and only around £55. Since then I've been told about colway tyres . . . basically they're remolds, but excellent quality . . . . used as the standards race tyre for the Porsche 924 championship. . . they also do a tyre in the 185/70 size.
