Hi Guys,
seasons greeting to you all.
Has anyone done anything about the inadequate heating?
What car do the heater matrix and blower fan come off?
The reason I ask, I have seen advertised a replacement system for the TR4 /5 / 6. It comprises an alluminium matrix and a modern quiet three speed motor.
Would this be a viable option.
G.

The M (not the Taimar os S) has several problems that need to be checked before condenming it...all the air going through into the air box needs to pass through matrix, that means checking that the matrix has been put into the air box correctly, then you need to check that the motor and it's fan is the correct one (put in a Triumph motor and it's rotor and yes it runs but the rotor is turning the wrong way and pumping back the air and even when the motor is re-wired the oppisite way it only thrashes the air rather than pumping air). There is a pipe that attaches on to the motor unit and passes the air into the distribution box (the black box in the engine bay) these can be TOO long and then they abut the internals of the distribution box and stop the air from flowing, and then you must check all the pipes including the distibution box to bodyshell joints so that the system is correctly sealed and connected to the eyeball vents......Lastly the heater pipe system...the heater valve should work and the bypass pipe which ensures that when that valve gets closed hot water still flows through pipes to allow the auto-choke to work should have a restrictor in it, so that the hot water does go through to the matrix and not returns to the engine by the easiest route. Thanks for the tips Adrian.
When you talk about the air box and the distribution box, are these the same thing?
and what is the correct blower motor?
thanks,
.
