TVR's in Australia !
Discussion
I recently imported my 1975 TVR 3000M (piccy on my profile) into Australia and got it registered Monday just gone. So she is back on the road - finally!
I didn't have any major problems with the process, although got caught on the import duty rule which Customs will wave if you have a vehicle 30 years old or over.
Have a look at this link which explains the process:
www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_10.aspx
I suggest you get a letter from the TVR Car Club archive boys which demonstrates the age of your car. As there is no manufacure date on a TVR plate on the bulk head you need something to prove the year.
Make sure the vehicle is cleaned spotless for quarantine purposes. I tried to get mine as clean as possible, but that's not exactly easy with a 30 year old car that hasn't been restored for some 15 years or so. So I got stung for a "cleaning charge" which amounts to about AU$420.
Parts are not widely available in Australia, but you can get some bits for the engine here (there was a limited edition version of the Capri that had the Essex engine here).
I could rabbit on for ages but won't bore everyone else with the details so if you want any more info let me know and I can email you direct.

Don't they just sit in the car and spray - like the planes?

Congratulations on getting the car on the road. I lived in Aus for 6 years back in the 80's. Cars I dreamed about then were Holden Monaros and Falcon Phase 3s & 4s. Ah the days of Big V8s!
