I am changing to an electronic tachometer because the old one doesn't work on an electronic distributor.
So, the old situation is the top drawing. A white cable in and a white cable out to the + of the coil.
And a green (+) cable from the battery. The white one does make a loop in the tacho .

The new situation is without a loop because the new tacho is an electronic one !
The back of the electronic says : one +, one -, and one ignition signal. (see lower drawing)

How do I connect the new tacho ??
I think the white goes straight to the + of the coil and is not connected to the tacho at all.
The green will be connected to the + on the tacho.
The - will be earthed .
But from where do I connect the ignition signal?
I think from the - of the coil ! Is this correct ?

Hi William

Always from the negative terminal of your coil.
