is this the one from classifieds recently? advertised for circa 20k?

I have to say, the ashtray seemingly full of fag butts is a bit off putting

Im not sure what kind of price hes looking for, unfortunately at the local meeting he was mobbed! hehe

I didnt see the ashtray, but I know that it sounds and goes fantastically and he just doesnt get to use it apparently

Still, depending on price, it could make a good buy for those looking for high performance with classic style or just for someone with money looking for a track day/hillclimb toy

No, this is not FNW593K which is down in London. Bizarely, I knew both these cars as 1600cc Vixens when I had my S2 in the late 1980s.

That is a 15k car minimum - much better than having a Chim 500 for that kind of cash - so much more individualistic - which I hate!

imho it all depends on how well it's built, otherwise it's just a Vixen and a V8, and 15k is way to much for a Vixen and a V8.

I was the highest bidder@ £9900.00 and failed to win the car, I later offered considerably more then that after the auction ended, this is a great car, same owner 18 years and built properly, my offer was exceeded the very day after the auction and the guy turned up with the cash and drove the car away, I am quite honestly gutted to have lost this car, and jellison you were right on the button with your estimation, this is a proper car

That someone paid £15,000 for the car does not change things. It's still not a "proper car" it's a still a vixen with a V8 in it. It may be well done and may well be a nice car to own, but its still a vixen etc...

Hope the new owner enjoys it and, if its been done well, he should have lots of fun for his money.

WHAT!? You are kidding right - it is one mega car, what the heck has originality got to do with anything unless it is being built to race to say fia rules?

If a car is awesome it is awesome - put sticky tyres on it and proper tune and a Sag would have trouble staying with it.

I swing boths ways (don't you know!) - some time originality is everything (fia Griff 200), but mostly who cares, make it faster Z06 Chim.

It has to be worth 1 way north of ten, you would be amazed at how much a pile of (perfect condition parts to rebuild an Original Griff cost)!

no doubt about it, you'll be terrified when driving it for the first time, but i sure wouldn't mind driving it But for now, the V6 is providing me with enough fun (and there's a small lack of funds to upgrade to V8

Oh well, here goes,

No, I wasn’t kidding actually, it maybe quite an astonishing car, but I (and others) believe originality is an issue and has much to do with marque preservation. You see the car through the eyes of a serial car modifier, I see it quite differently.

If a car is awesome it is awesome – I don’t doubt it and in a proper state of tune – what ever that is, a badly driven standard Sagaris may well have trouble staying with it. But what is the proper state of tune for a Vixen with a 302 engine??

I don’t dispute the value an individual places on something. An items worth is for debate.

For the record, I wouldn’t be amazed at how much a pile of perfect condition parts to rebuild an original Griffith cost - but I almost take your point.

And, to re-iterate, I hope the person who bought it has lots of fun with it.

I could shove my tuppence worth here and I will...

Hi jelly / John

do we really care?

A griffith is nothing more than a vixen / Grantura 1800s with an engine transplant.

people who know, know that the american transplanted car was a truly horrendous affair. it was only when it came back to the UK and a fabulous engineer called David Hives completely re-mocked the chassis and engineered the car properly did it become a Griffith

I was quite amused at Oulton the other day to watch TVR enthusiasts brushing past David and not knowing just who they were missing the opportunity of talking to. (I hope he writes a book soon)

I know you both and know your cars. I am also one of those guys who swings both ways.

The fact of the matter is that TVR's are drivers cars and the one reason I belong to this fraternity is that no-one is too anal about which way anyone swings.

The tuscan replica / transplanted Vixen (depending on how well it is built) is worth exactly the price that someone will pay. The car is worth more than a vixen because of its parts and less than a Tuscan, unless it has been built with all of the proper bits now available.

A scrap car (original one in rusty condition is worth no more than the sum of whats useable / whats got to be replaced plus a little tad for originality.

If people want an original Vin Plate and are prepared to pay an extra £25k for the privelage , good luck to them.

Now expensive vin plates bought from the states is another can of worms all together

Neil.

I cann understand everyones points here, but it has to be said that although it was merely a Vixen with a 302 V8, it was very well put together from what I saw of it (admittedly not much ) and it goes like stink and sounds fantastic and the best bit is the fact that when the owner turned up at the WY meeting, he was absolutely surrounded with people looking over it asking questions and such!

All TVR's turn heads, whether its genuine or not

Im sure the new owner will love the car

mrmop: Im sorry you missed out on it!

John, how ya doing buddy? You attending the meet tomorrow or are you tied down with work??
