The Ford type 3 'box in my 1600M is starting to seriously grumble in reverse and also under hard acceleration or when running at high revs. The rattle & vibrations coming through to the cabin are amplified by the quickshift (hence no rubber isolator on the gearlever) but, even so, it sounds as though a bearing is shot somewhere.
So, has anyone any idea of how I can diagnose which bearing is disintegrating without taking the 'box out and, assuming it does need work, a reputable gearbox specialist?
