Hello all,
Has anyone out there or know someone out there, got a winged sump(burton power etc) to fit a cross flow?
The reason being my new suspension is a lot lower and i don't want to catch it on humps manholes etc
Thanks

The winged crossflow sump is the same depth as a standard sump, just has a larger oil capacity. Which was used on high spec (competion) engines. For normal road use, sprints and hillclimbs this would be over kill, and the oil probably wouldn't get up to working temp.

Yes,
you are true, just measured another one to compare, only the oil capacity change, 4,5 liter!
To have some more clearance, only the dry sump pan and installation is better I think.

I don't know if it will work on a crossflow, but my Pinto engined Tiger had the sump pan cut and welded to raise it by about 1-1/2", the pick up was obviously shortened to suit.

If this is for the car in your profile could you not go for a dry sump system? These are plentiful and probably not that expensive. It just depends how original you want it to look under the bonnet.

Why not just skid the chassis rails?

Hi,
or perhaps you can try a caterham or westfield specialist like James Whiting
I have seen on the blatchat that He has sold some alloy sump(not cheap I think) to have some more clearance on crossflow engined caterham, but not found on his website, try a mail .
