Hi. Can anyone tell me what type of fuel pump the Vixen 1600 usually had? Mine is fitted with an SU which I think is an AUF 214 spec. It appears this was used on 1275 BMC engined cars mainly, is it up to the job for the crossflow?

It is in need of new points (corroded spring) but wondered if it was correct spec and whether I should just change it.

Cheers,
Paul.

Your vixen should have a ford x/flow engine in it, the fuel pump for these is mounted on the inlet side of the block and is driven off the camshaft. There are two ford part nunbers for these depending on the block (711m or 691), don't know what the differance is and am sure i've interchanged them in the past.
As for the carb it should be a webber twin choke downdraught i believe a 32/36 dgv, thats what i had fitted for many years giving good economy and reasonable preformance. Hope this is of use.

Thanks for that. So do most use the original mech pump or is an electric pump the best solution? I have found the spec for the su pump fitted which returns 7gal/hour. Is that enough for the crosslow?

Also, should it have a regulator if using an electric pump?
