Body is off the Taimar, front suspension all removed and successfully loosened all the rear suspension bolts but I can't find the magic incantation to undo the bolts holding the inner driveshafts to the diff. I've used my full vocabulary but they won't budge. I have a nice big bar to put on my socket but there is only room on the inner bolt head for an open ended spanner and that just pings off, so I've stopped before completely knackering the bolt head.

Anyone from the school of hard knocks have any pearls of wisdom they'd care to share, or do I just get in a rage and reach for an angle grinder?

tia for any suggestions to lower my blood pressure

Take the rear suspension units off, split the drives and then undo when the diff is out of the car.

Thanks Heightswitch

I'll try that during the week. When SWMBO found out I was stuck, she pulled out "the list of things that need doing around here..." and that was the weekend gone rolleyes

cheers

I had a similar prob on my S2. In the end I ground the offending bolt-head off, and then with the driveshaft away the remains of the bolt were removed really easily. Worth considering if you get into trouble.

Thanks Gents for your suggestions

Removed both hubs, and then the diff, over the weekend (with some help, thanks Bruv ;-) and will try to get the inner driveshaft to diff bolts undone next, or failing that will wind up the grinder.

As we were doing it and shaking it all around a bit, great lumps of rust kept falling off the chassis. I think I may need some new tubes here and there!

cheers
