M - Front hub dust / grease seal
Discussion
Hi,
When I took the front hubs off one felt seal was missing and the metal bit loose. On the other side the metal part was pressed against the bearing and the felt intact - I guess the latter is correct.
Is there a setting for the metal part or just push fully against the bearing and is the felt seal fit dry or pre soaked OR is there a more modern replacement part recommended
thanks,
David

David, The issue here is the quality of the felt seals, where the felt falls apart and leaves the metal liner in place having spun the felt away. I load the seal up with bearing grease, from new the metal part is slightly oval, so it requires to be pressed in on one edge, and this what holds it in place.

Thanks for info - I have new seals that came with the car, was concerned about the oval shape - all makes sense now.
