Not being a TVR system (unless you have changed back) where the choke is in the air box, a manual choke will not matter (pressure is power)....in 30 years of playing TVR's I have never seen a faulty auto choke....They can only be set and adjusted ONCE each first operation on first start of the day (it take a couple of days to set properly) AND they need both a perfect cooling system (as the choke is at the highest point) and you MUST (once warmed up) full throttle the pedal to full disengage the choke.

Strip down;clean, lube, and follow the instructions for rebuild and set up which are available on the net just aim for around twelve hundred revs on full choke and as long as you are quick you can stop the engine an hand disengage choke mechanism so that you can test choke operation ie floor accelerator pedal once and release to bring the choke into working condition before you start the engine. Its a few weeks since I did mine and as long as you have no heat in the hoses that go to the auto choke,(it does take a little while to heat up),I think I disengaged the choke for retest with the engine off by opening the throttle to full at the carb and gently open the chokes with your fingers, obviuosly the top is off the air filter when you do this.I originaly followed A Haynes 3 Litre Capri Manual that had the choke set at 1800rpm! way too noisy and not good for your clutch or brakes as you have to fight the engine at those revs.
The painful thing with standard TVR turbo's is that the set up needs to be done blind as the lid on the airbox has to be in place when setting up, as the airflow is different with the lid off (from memory the OP has a Rewster booster system that has the choke outside the pressure system)
