Hi have a chance of getting an immaculate concourse Grantura mk2 or a not so good but original mk 3, what are the difference's in a nut, i will not be racing it but using it on a daily basis, with the odd hill climb or track day.

What do you guys think?

I have a 2a and a 65 Griffith 200. The mark 3 is the same body/chassis as the Griffith. For a regular driver, I would go with the Mark 3. On the track, my Mark 2a held its own against MGs and Alfas, but the Mark 3 would be easier to work with. Both are fun cars.

The Mk 2 has torsion bar suspension and 3 has wishbone suspension. IMHO you would choose the 3 every time. Adrian@

Stephen, I have replied with my opinion by email in response to your enquiry.
For the record, all Grantura Mk3's do not have TVR Griffith style bodywork, about half the cars had Mk2 style bodywork, obviously the earlier ones. Good luck

Quite. There is no comparison, the MkIII is a much better car with its independent suspension. The MkIII is potentially also much more valuable as it is THE car to have for FIA GTS11 (pre 66 under 2L class) racing. The later MkIIIs had 1800 MGB engines whereas I believe a MkII should have the anaemic 1600 MGA engine or possibly Ford sidevalve.

On the other hand if the MkIII needs work the MKII may be a better financial bet. Personally I would not use either as a daily driver but I guess that depends on distances and local conditions.
