I've been running a Vixen S3 (1700 X-flow) with a JP Stainless Steel manifold and exhaust system. Typically the silencer boxes have suffered a number of bangs and scrapes over the last few years so I need to replace the centre section. It's been re welded at various intervals and is getting too ropey.

I'm reluctant to buy another Stainless Steel centre section as it will suffer the same fait as the last one. The obvious option is taking the car up to JP or another exhaust specialist to have a system custom fitted. In the meantime has anyone (sucessfully) bought either parts or an exhaust system (stainless or otherwise) that has fitted the vixen?

Any information would be useful and if you had part numbers or donor vehicle details so much the better.

Cheers

No.
the secret is to get a custom exhaust made, then double skinned and then offered up as close to the underside of the chassis rails as poss.

JP are good and so is AAS in lemington near newcastle

This is mine tucked up under my Griff.

Sorry about the poor quality photos taken on my camphone.

This is at AAS whom I recommend very highly.

Tailbox and mounts cost £350 in stainless fitted.

neil.

Matt i can supply complete stainless system for much less than £350 all in but perhaps you should consider raising car a little. Nothing will prevent grounding if you have no clearance, 1/2" makes all the difference (or so I,m told)

Griff exhaust looks really smart, certainly higher up in the chassis than my was.

The ride height of my Vixen is pretty standard, the main problem is I'm hemmed in by speed humps and however I approach them the exhaust always scrapes.

I'll probably end up fitting another stainless centre section, but wanted to explore all the options first..

Thanks for the information so far.

I have a theory that the car will never turn a wheel in anger...its just a theory and I would love Neil to prove me wrong as I need another TVR to play with on track next year. smash

So far the only alternative other than going back out in the Tuscan Challenge is the half chance that a Vixen being rebuilt in the same part of the world as Neil which is about 30% through a 12 year (to date) rebuild may see a ramp in build progress. hehehehe

It will be nice to see it moving as well as it looks Neil - keep up the recent hard work. wink

can he afford his own labour rates though?? Why don't you buy said vixen from him and have both. that way you will be in swinging 60's as well as future classics?? I am going back to school to re-train as a plumber. bricks and mortar don't seem to earn me enough money to play as hard as you.

Bernard. its nearly finished and quite a few unfinished projects and distractions are now sold on so pending my health , wellbeing and job security, I should be shaking the car down in January for next season.

Unless of course she finds other things for me to do first.

Neil.

Re-traing in such a technical field will be a long hard slog at your age, and it would require a lifestyle change that would entail being away from home more than you're there - a complete reversal for you Neil and the ducks would suffer... wink

Stick with what you do now....I don't need the competition at work as well!!
