Hi all
I'm just trying to sort through the rats nest of wiring that lives near the steering column after a complete failure of all the lights. Thankfully the police man (who was behind me at the lights when this occurred) was very understanding and kindly escorted me home.
As the wiring was next on the list of things to sort it seemed like a good time to start. All is going well except I have a few questions.
Is it worth while making the horn on the steering column work, or should I just use another button, I'd prefer to make it work as it should but I am open to suggestions.
And
Does the live feed for the side lights also feed/common with the rear clusters? I ask as the side lights aren't working (front or rear) and only the indicators are working on the rear clusters.

The horn press is related to the brass column bush and the collar within the chassis eyelet (this sets the height and stops the rise and fall of the the steering wheel in relation to the horn press ring and the sprung contacts and steering wheel) if these parts are not in good condition then it is nearly impossible to get the horn right...It sounds like the light switch has fell apart although the feed to sidelights are separate from headlamps the front and rear are one circuit.

Perhaps a strip/clean/rebuild for the steering column then. As for the rear clusters, the brake lights don't come on anymore either, which is why I asked if there was a common feed. I guess I just need to be patient and keep on replacing the bodged wiring.
Why do these things always happen when you need to use the car? I've just resigned so I'll loose the company car shortly so I'd better get my finger out as she'll become my daily (weather permitting) drive!

Thanks for all the help guys, I now have working lights! Just the normal loose and dirty connections along with some very odd alterations to the standard loom, but all is well now...
... except the horn. I need a new horn(s) and button, any suggestions?
