I had a faulty Sparto Lamp on the front of my Vixen. Bulb wouldn't seat properly to light the bulb, spring contacts were weak. Sparto Lamps are obsolete so here is what I did to get the lamp refurbished.

I bought a Lucas Lamp (Lucas model # 594) from Moss motors. These were fitted on the Austin-Healey 100, 3000 (twin filament).

I took the Sparto Lamp apart, and removed the bulb holder. What was left was the metal face plate and the housing to support the bulb holder. With a cut off wheel I cut the body off of the sparto lamp so all I was left with was the metal face plate.

Then I inserted the new Lucas Lamp into the Sparto face plate. The Lucas face plate has three screw holes to attach the lamp to the car. With the Lucas Lamp centered on the Sparto face plate. Drill out three matching holes in the Sparto face plate. Then I riveted the two plates together. Rivet from the back side toward the front of the lamp. That way the stubs don't protude into the rubber insulator.

Insert the new lamp and housing into the rubber insulator, rewire, assemble the lens and trim ring, and install lamp on car. Pictures...

Wait there is another problem. With this install the bulb is to tall for the lens. I'll see If I can come up with a solution.

The correct Lamp (bulb holder) to repair the Sparto Lamps is Lucas model # 488. In the USA... Moss Motors Part # 143-700
