Hi,

On rebuilding the chassis on my S3, I have found it has a 3/4" ARB. I believe the norm was 11/16ths, is that right?

Also, what drop links can be used to replace the originals? John Upham's site states the originals were TVR's own but that Vitesse rotoflex links, part 150842, are possible replacements. But these appear to be different from usual ARB links as the have a tapered fitment (for the wishbone end on the TVR) as they are used for the Vitesse link to lever arm dampers.

Has anyone used these for the links on a tiv or can other normal triumph links be used?

Lastly, should the U clamps be normal U shaped ones or the ones that run back over and round the bar?

Thanks in advance for any help! Paul.

My 1971 2500 is basically an S3. I tried to use some Triumph drop links which were only about 8 quid each but although they looked the same as the originals when I offered them up the they were the wrong angle - ie when fitted on the wishbone end I could not line up the screw into the ARB. I ended up using some drop links from David Gerald TVR - they are of a different design and were a bit pricey. As for the clamps - I used just U shaped clamps which were those used originally. I wouldn't worry about the ARB diameter - the main this is that it isn't bent !

Thanks Mike. I knew that the herald / spit drop links were 'handed', ie they are angled at the end, but wondered if any others would do the job.

Are the Geralds ones rose joints, like the ones someone suggested on the TVR club site? :-

Hi

Yes, the ones I bought from Geralds have a rose joint and the drop link height is adjustable.
