How do you value a classic?

It looks like come September I will be quitting my job and going to become a full time student in the hope of getting a career that I actually enjoy.
With immense pain, I am considering parting with my M to help fund the move. I know parting with it is really going to hurt... How much would it realistically fetch and where is best to sell it?
Its an early 2500M ... Tax exempt. Very solid chassis with photographic evidence of atleast 2 bodyoff restorations in its life.
Most recent restoration saw it having polybushes fitted, re-sprayed and generally tidied up including a re-trim inside. Plus new sound system, uprated heater blower, re-conditioned diff
Its not a totally authentic M as it has been improved over the years by its various owners, but its a fantastic car to drive... (and yes, I do have the origional chrome bumpers) For the die hard origionalist it wouldnt take much effort to go back to "standard"... if you can figure out what "standard" actually was!
I had planned to fit some new coilovers to finish off the restoration, but have not got round to it..
Its running twin SU carbs, stainless sports exhaust and overdrive...
