Hi Chaps (and Chapesses)
I'm toying with the idea of buying a 3000M as a second / third car and having spent many years away from such "interesting" machinery (I drive an Audi/Porsche RS2, and vans) was wondering what to look for. I've owned a lot of old Fords (6 with essex lumps) and Triumphs (GT6s) over the years so I suspect quite a few of the parts maybe familiar, but I would like to know what effect age and TVRness has on them and hat to look for.
Looking forward to your educated replys.
Cheers

ps does anyone remember the yellow 3000M that used to be around Bath in the late 80s ?

Other than everything - if you get a half decent car look at the chassis - especially the upper cross member behind the seats which can rot out easily, ditto the chassis below the battery box.

Stress cracks around the top of the windscreen mean it's popped out ( not uncommon at high speed) If it's early with a TR6 diff check for rumbling.

If it has a Tudor Webasto sunroof with any issue be very careful as you can't get bits and I spent 2 years looking for a new one.

There will probably be stress cracks around the headlights too.

Early cars have pretty minute ( and inadequate) radiators - what state is the cooling system in ( when I stripped mine several small bore pipes showed how good radweld can be!)

On a car this age everything else will be suspect - do all the electrics work? do the brakes pull it up well? Knocks and creaks under cornering? decent oil pressure ( my just rebuilt engine registers 50 on tickover and 75 under load when warm. Does it blow blue smoke on cold start? etc etc, etc
