I have, what can be only described as, a loud metal on metal noise coming from the off-side rocker box, it sounds a lot more than just tappets, could it be the camshaft? The enginge is now approaching 140,000 miles, so rather than just adjust, perhaps a rebuild might be the right option. Could anybody bive me a ball-park figure for a rebuild please, and what are anybody's thoughts, and value, on a replacement engine from a Scimator GTE with an overdrive box with 38,000 on the clock, I'm presuming it would fit?
Any advise gratefully received,
Mike.

I had something similar on my Xflow engine. Turned out to be a split had appeared in the exhaust manifold where 2 branches joined. The weld seam had cracked. Cost me just £20 to have it TIG welded and didn't even need to remove it, so well relieved. Hope you're as lucky.

Moto.
