Can anyone suggest a suitable wheel nut for the finned alloy. Is there such a thing as a "vixen" wheel nut? I'm not sure if the TR6 wheel nut is suitable as it has the taper but no sleeve which I believe is great for steel but not so hot for alloys. Looking at the wheel I presume a taper + sleeved nut is required but would be interested in what the options are?

Maybe I,ve just been lucky but I,ve never had an insert come out of a Vixen, or to give it its correct title a Tuscan alloy wheel.I have a loft full of these wheels and a couple of Vixens in the garage and none of them have loose inserts. They were originally standard fitment on Tuscan V6 and an option on Vixens. The nuts were never originally chromed, domed or that small across the flats and although they tightened against the steel insert they also acted on the wheel taper to give much more support over a much bigger surface area. 14" "M" series wheels were of a different consruction to Tuscan wheels and had a wheel nut smilar to Adrians. Many Tuscan/Vixen owners retro fitted Chrome domed wheel nuts made by Cosmic for TR6 and other cars. Although Adrians reproduction wheel nuts are probably correct for "M" series they are not reproductions of the original Tuscan/Vixen nuts. I am not saying they are not suitable, only you can decide that.

It is, but that's not to say that they all were.

My Vixen S3 nuts look exactly like the photo above, and are chromed (and I do have original finned wheels).

As the hubs are TR6, that seems like they would be the ones - threads look like UNF to me....

As far as I can tell, the finned wheels look like they have a steel collar fitted to them for the nuts.
I think this was common for ally wheels before the 'tube/sleeve' design on the nuts ?? Anyone ?

You're correct. They are standard TR6 items.

For a while, there was a Stailess Steel supplier who made reproductions, on this continent.

I agree with Adrian@, for years I had one odd nut and it was a different AF size although thread dia and pitch were the same.

Get the proper ones from a TVR supplier! yes
