1 week to go until the btcc gets racing again at the brilliant cheshire circuit after a 5 week break. Some intresting news been coming out.

Jeff allam is brought in to become the driving standards advisor to sort out incidents and collisions on track.

Toca has announced new breaks for s2000 cars these are

All fwd s2000 cars are to have 25kg reduced which covers all of the chevrolet teams min weight is now 1145kg.

All rwd s2000 cars are to have 10kg reduced which covers the bmw drivers, min wight now 1140kg and they have the longer 1st gear which was brought in to reduce start line advantage removed.

However, TOCA have kept a fail-safe in reserve should these news changes be insufficient by also instructing all cars powered by the Next Generation Touring Car spec engine that they must reduce their boost levels by 0.05 bar from levels run during the last meeting at Thruxton. This change is suspended however, and as a result can be introduced at TOCA's discretion during the weekend.

With the switch of dave newsham to str which he has had a test in is reported to be on par with his team mate and lea wood who will returen in the last of the btc spec cars will push the grid numbers up to 24 and with dan welch entering at snetteton will push numbers up to 25.

Matt hamilton who has been reported to be involde in a ngtc project will announce it on june 8th.

Itv has said that tv audiance was up 21% up at brands, 27% up at donnington and a massive 56% up at thruxton.

So whos going to be watching it on tv or who are going up to oulton to watch it. I will be watching on tv.

Haha me too until i went onto the btcc website. Been to long since the last race, they should have spread the last 3 races ferther apart, to have 3 races in nearer enough 1 month is to much i thought but atleast the break gives time to rar and the 2 toyota teams to develope their cars to get on the pace. Wrathell was ahead and chasing the cars in the 3 laps he run if they get the relaibility sorted then there on to top 10s mayby top 5 by the end of the year.

I'll be at Oulton. Weather forecast is looking good, though i'm sure it'll change by the time the weekend comes around. Gonna get there early for a good parking spot, and get a bit of bacon cooking on the grill.

Hopefully the changes made will even up the performance on the straights, though i'm sure Plato will still find something to moan about. Would like to see Boardman's Leon and TOC in the Golf continue to climb up the leaderboard.

Last year there was a display from an RAF Tornado ( I think?) and a parachute jump. Though the grey Tornado was camouflaged by cloud and the jump cancelled due to the weather! Anyone know if similar activities are planned?

The Rob Austin Audi A4 has been on a diet and is now using a lehmann engine which i assume is identical to the AMD miltek Golf engine so hopefully it will show a lot more potential at Oulton!

I'll be at Brands for the MINI Challenge so will have to Sky+ it.

Had a great day at Thruxton for the last BTCC round though, glad to hear the audiences are growing as it a great form of motorsport.

Results from fp1 TOP 10

01 Gordon Shedden 1:27.558
02 Matt Neal +0.386
03 Jason Plato +0.848
04 Alex MacDowall +0.887
05 Andrew Jordan +0.913
06 Robert Collard +0.968
07 Mat Jackson +0.991
08 Tom Chilton +1.317
09 James Nash +1.372
10 Andy Neate +1.409

Lea wood in the integra is ahead of the 2 toyotas and chris james and the audi is the fastest ngtc car.

Good for rob collard to be up there if he gets a good quali then he should be quick of the grid know due to the removal of the longer first gear.

Grid seems to be closer which is a good thing. We should have some cracking racing tommorow.
