Sometimes Pitpass has interesting and original stuff, although they've not exactly distinguished themselves lately in their dogmatic insistence that there could not possibly have been any chicanery amongst Gribkowsky, Bernie and CVC.

Nevertheless, this is low-rent stuff:
http://www.pitpass.com/43799-Stewards-unimpressed-...

If that were posted by a member on a forum, such as PH, one would expect the mods to take it down. To see it posted by the actual website author is very unimpressive.

The link doesn't work for me either. It would appear to have been pulled. What was the content, Flemke?

There was an interesting article on the CVC/Eccs interaction in The Times on Saturday. Unfortunately I left the paper in a cafe I went into. I only read a few paragraphs. I don't suppose anyone has the balance do they?

A new low from Pitpass.

I saw it earlier this morning. At least the picture has been taken down now.

Posted by Woof on page 130 (for me at least) on the Monaco GP thread. Basically it was a KKK picture.

Little content, apart from the title, "Stewards unimpressed by Hamilton apology".
As Teppic says, below that was a large, clear photo of maybe half a dozen KKKers posing in their complete regalia, including full niqab and dunce cap.
I did not save a copy, as I don't want that filth on my computer, even temporarily, and by the same sentiment I did not wish to post image itself here.

Thanks for that.

Poor taste indeed. As you say, not what one would expect of Pitpass. That said, they removed it quickly enough. I suppose we all make mistakes.

The new Pitpass site seems to take an age to load, and as I have posted before seems to have an agenda behind it. I would be very interested to see the funding behind it and indeed who funds Formula Money,

Has anyone else also noted the quality of the pieces has deteriorated?

This is the one that had me spitting tacks.
I think its just about the most bias piece of reporting I have ever read.

To be fair, it is an opinion piece so one would expect it to be biased. Mind you, it is wrong as well in some ways. The threat proved productive. I would have thought that the teams must have felt that it was £10m well spent.

The teams need something to threaten 'the only game in town' CVC with. It holds all the cards. Unless, of course, FOCA can come up with an alternative.

Pitpass suggests that the teams will have to start in 2013 'at the earliest'. That's not so. They could have a short-term agreement. Say two years. What could CVC do? FOCA might not be the only game in town but they would lose massive amounts of value if they were trying to push two Lotus, HRT and Williams as their lead teams.

If it wasn't so vital to the sport, the negotiations would be a great spectator sport. Both sides have a lot to lose but also have strengths. And in the middle is the FIA which has little in the way of assets and everything to lose. The problem is that so do we.

If FOCA, with the FIA apparently on their side, a bit like having the French on your side during a war I suppose, goes for a short-term contract then CVC would be reeling. They would not be able to unload their investment at a decent price. And in two years a rival series could be up and running, just waiting for the red lights to go out.

Nothing appears to be certain in the negotiations. There is a fabulous amount of money in the sport, enough to make FIFA run out of brown envelopes I bet. That always limits predictability.

CVC appear to be a little wary of Eccs and that complicates matters a bit.

That's the type of article we need in the quality F1 press, both online and in the mags. Not ill-advised pictures and poor quality journalism. We want information.

Indeed, the site seems to have evolved into Delta Topco's version of the Maranello "Horse Whisperer".

Very difficult to reply without breaking the N&S rules!

A while ago I commented about a website and several people PM'd me with similar stories - being banned because the site owner (and founder) didn't like what you had said.
I understand that some websites are actually 'helped' by someone that is very high up in F1.

As for Pitpass - good idea but poor results. IMHO.

Certainly it seems that fairly often Pitpass has an agenda. I seem to recall suggesting before that it seems to doa certain amount of stirring that Bernie might want to do.

You mean it's been "The Dwarf's Whisperer"?

Something like that. Mind you there was a story recently that I thought he might not like!

However all these articles about that German banker, the finances of F1, the threat of a takeover etc all seem to me to have a hint of Bernies touch. They have seemed to have said a lot, whilst actually saying nothing.

Oh and as for the Pitpass makeover I am firmly in the "Its awful" camp!
