Beating the previous 314mph record by another 3 mph and into a hell of a headwind too!

Was that yesterday? I was there and missed that as I was with some people involved with the Shockwave funny car which ran a 5.2. I couldn't believe the times they are doing now, last time I went Peter? Crane did the first ever European 5 second run at 5.97 or something.

Yes, it was the final run (of the top fuels) from yesterday. The evening was great too as the light was fading they kept racing (assume for practise) within the other classes like pro-stock etc - assume to get some practise in.

Found this video from onboard. Amazing how much they actually move side to side in the lane in a run! Those little front tyres look like they do sod all!

And its not as if it was a one off. Whilst Risto got the record because he had the required backup run Tommy Johnson in Andersons car matched the 317.06mph exactly.

I must have missed that run (was a lot of alcohol drunk that weekend as I was on a stag weekend....)

Was that the "Ashphalt Allygator! ? If so, I was there, he raced off against Don Garlitts ...King Rat? was it?

Garlitts was not happy about losing apparently. That was a frighteningly long time ago

Asphalt Allygator was driven by Allan "Bootsie" Herridge. Don Garlits was beaten by Pete Crane driving Stormbringer.
