Race teams based around Herts, Essex and London

Hi,
Do any forum members know of any race teams, big or small, or even run/work for any based around the Herts, Essex or London area at all?
I'm due to relocate to the Herts area in the next ten days and keen to keep the smell of race car engines around my nose I was looking to gain some experience within a team nearby possibly, offering time to assist in any capacity, unpaid if need be. I'm not a technician sadly but an utter petrol head and keen to gain any experience within a team set up in order to make my CV a little more relative and above all, just be involved with how a team works!
As I say, I'm not looking for payment (although any offers won't be sniffed at!) just if anyone would appreciate a passionate racer to help out either in their HQ or at race weekends...or both! I've always read that this is the best way to involve yourself in the sport initially, I'm just new to the area so thought I'd probe the forums first.
