Do any "real" motor racing fans ever follow this or is just for the football fans?
I'm afraid as soon as I hear any reference to football it switches my brain off, which might be a shame because I may be missing some good racing and some spectacular talent.
My feeling is that the concept of combining motor racing and football is deeply flawed.

I can't believe its still going to be honest. We supported them for their first race in Donington 2008. Slightly surreal seeing fans wondering around donny in a football shirts. Can't believe it hasn't cost the organisers bucket loads of dosh. Think we are on the same bill as them donny this year. *Supposed* to of got 30000 supporters at foreign events. I have absolutely no interest in Football whatsoever but I went along to the Superleague meeting at Brands last year.
The cars sound superb, very, very loud. I saw some excellent racing - but it was a grid in excess of 20 cars though. My 8 year old daughter used my phone to do a couple of lap times - as I recall they were lapping the GP Circuit in the 1 minute 12/13 second region - which compares well with the lap record of 1 minute 9 seconds which was set by Mansell in the turbo era.
I'm gutted that they aren't at Brands this year - in fact it doesn't look as if they are even racing in the UK.

It's a great series, the cars are just incredible so it's a shame it hasn't really taken off but I always felt it was a bit of a flawed idea. Most football supporters aren't interested in motorsport beyond F1 and Moto GP and dare I say it a lot of motorsport fans are too snobish to be associated with football. I can't see it surviving beyond this season which is a real shame.
I don't think it's being too snobish, most motorsport fans i know (Myself included) just aren't interested in Football at all.
I always thought it was a flawed idea to have a racing series based on football, I would have thought most football teams would want to be spending their cash on football, especially since the downturn. I like the idea of turning into something closer to A1gp as the cars themselves seem really good.

As a motorsport fan I have zero interest in football either, which is directly opposite to most people I know.
Motors TV have been running a very long and tedious advert for Superleague recently and it doesn' look all that great to me. I'm pleasently suprised to hear they run V12 engines though!

Well - I am very much into both motorsport and football but I have only ever even encountered the Superleague series in any capacity at the Autosport show and have never been enthused by it. Further to this, almost all of my motorsport friends who don't care about football and football friends who don't care about motorsport barely if at all even know of its existence... I am just astonished that it is still going...
Maybe I have spotted the problem. As motor racing fans we tend to follow drivers or manufacturers.............. Senna, Webber,Prost, Hamilton, Alonso ........... McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull etc........ but I just looked at that link and it seems that the whole of AUSTRALIA is leading this years championship! :-)
Scrap the football link, give the drivers their moment of fame and call it sometihng like ummmm........errrmmmm............Formula 3000?

It amazes me the series is still in business considering the prize money offered at each round. It does seem that they are moving away from the Football side of things though as only 6 cars from 14 are represented by teams, the rest by countrys a la A1GP.

The concept of the cars seems impressive. 750bhp V12, No power steering etc. Cars look a touch aero-fussy but better than the current 'lawnmower esque' F1 cars. (Which on TV, they seem to stretch the picture to make the cars look better)
If they can ditch the football nonsense, tidy up the price formula, increase the number of tracks, I'd be quite keen to see a few races.

They were at the same silverstone meeting as us a couple of years ago. The engines are fantastic, great sound. The racing was ok. Still a bit of a muddled concept it seems, but those v12's really are great.
I guess it must be hard to do a concept that isn't a direct copy of F1. I agree the Football theme and perhaps even the 'Country' theme is a bit messy IMO.I would like to see it develop though, since in many ways F1 could do with a bit of a kick up the bum.
