Thinking of going to see the Truck racing in August, is it worth getting a grandstand ticket or are there plenty viewing places around?
Nephew enjoyed the Touring cars in oulton Park, and he likes Trucks, so truck racing seems to be logical conclusion.

Truck Racing at Thruxton is awesome, just pray for a little bit of rain as they collect in the paddock, makes the first corner viewing unmissable. I saw it several years ago, they tried 2 normal starts and did a rolling start in the end after 2 epic 1st corner crashes.

Magic, he'll love it then - his main complaint about the touring cars were there weren't enough crashes.

The banks at the complex are usually good.

Yeah the complex is a good place for viewing, thats where i usually head. Be sure to do the paddock pass so you can get right up close to the trucks and get to chat to the drivers etc. Its a great day out, enjoy!

I used to like the grass bank by the chicane - watch the cars blasting up the hill at full wack and then see who is the bravest on the brakes into the chicane. Used to be lots of action here. But it's been a few years since I last went to Thruxton so the grass bank may well not be there anymore.

Yea thats still there, but it does get very busy so its worth getting there early.

I used to get a grandstand ticket at Thruxton but now I prefer to wonder about and watch from various places up on the banking.

When I was there for the trucks last year, I think most of the banking at the final chicane was out of bounds. Certain areas are, due to the danger element. Most of the banking along the start finish straight to the complex is open though, that's where these pictures are from.

I'd go on the bank by the complex apart from if i'm watching bikes then i'd consider the grandstand as a lot more bikes seem to overtake in the chicane compared to cars.

They're great to watch at Thruxton, but they don't have do some damage if they crash. This was in 2008, fortunately the driver was absolutely fine but after the accident they opted to move the viewing area back another few metres!

I remeber watching the trucks at brands years ago in the early 90's. I think it was Heather Bailey that managed to flip her truck over the barriers at the bottom of graham hill bend and almost landed in the pits!
