Could Mark be holding off or already signed for Renault, there is already talk renault think the car has more in it than the drivers deliver.

So Mark might be a smart move and if and let's hope so robert comes back that could be a good team, I understand they are good mates anyway.

So what are your thoughts.

And if I am right (which never happens) who has the RB seat? Nico, Lewis ?

Can't see him moving. He's got the second or third best seat on the grid as it stands, he's not a young buck, and I'm sure he'll know fine well the only way is down when it comes to paychecks and the teams he can choose to drive for.

Unless someone gives him enough money to keep him in poor quality lager and BBQ prawns for life, I can't see him moving to another team. V8 Supercars though, that may be something else...

When the blown diffusers/ exhaust thingamingys get banned later the year the Red Bull advantage will be reduced..

Getting whipped by your team mate 9 times out of 10, for whatever reason, cannot be doing his morale much good, though.

Generally they'll get frozen out of the development programme for next year's car. The clauses will be there in the contracts I guess (they're fairly standard - I have them in mine and I just work in an office for a boring widget manufacturer) but it would be difficult to tie down a leak when people could just look at a car.

Wandering out of a team with thousands of pages would be different though.

Generally there would be a restraint of trade clause in employment contracts where the employee has access to trade secrets or other confidential information. In British/Australian/NZ law, the aggrieved can seek remedy using equity law; in the case of F1, it will probably be via injunction not to use the information, or not to use a particular design, etc.

Trade secrets and confidential information (which is quite a technical legal term) can be protected after the termination of employment, but the know-how gained by the employee cannot.

If I wanted the secrets I'd be hiring one of the engineers, not the driver!

Red bull have provided their drivers with consistently the best or near as dammit the best car for the last few years, while the other big teams have peaked and troughed... And while vettel might be the official golden boy there's enough parity and opportunity for Mark... moving elsewhere would be crazy, unless he's come to the conclusion he can't beat vettel and wants to gamble on out-car-ing him.

Wonder if MW is waiting to see if RK will be fit enough to drive next year? If your team mate seems to have the edge in the same car jumping to another team for a shed load of wonga may seem appealling? You can always blame the car then....
