New footage (HD) of a huge MR2 Championship (750mc) crash taken at the top of Paddock Hill grandstand (Brands Hatch) By far the best angle with clear view of initial contact tipping Zac into Andrei.

Rob Barnett - Car 36 was in the race but not involved.

Spectators at 1.23 in are very lucky not to have 'The Black Russian' - Car 55 lack on their heads! Should cars be able to leave the track? Bit like the Seat Leon Eurocup crash at brands! Can't easily engineer out all possibilities. It did say 'Motorsport is dangerous' on their tickets!

My dear Baldrick, I think the phrase I am looking for rhymes with clucking bell.

I had seen the shunt previously but from that angle it went right through one of my usual haunts at brands. Come back outside through the padduck tunnel, turn left and stand and watch the others while waiting to go back for some more fun.

Glad the drivers and spectators were ok.

Crikey, hope drivers are ok. I have watched the MR2 Championship at tracks on many occasions and hope to enter one day, never thought I would see a crash that bad!

Is there a gap in the barrier there?

It's a gate if my somewhat dodgy memory is correct.

Interesting footage.
After the black car goes thought the fence gap there is a spectator in a white shirt that initially run towards the car then run away.
I hope he was told to go away rather than he just ran away. I'm sure that the marshals would appreciate any help in situations like that.

I'm surprised that they've built the gate facing that way; normally you'd have a wall facing the oncoming cars surely?

It's probably wiser to leave the Marshals / Rescue Crews to it.

Looked like he was checking the girl he was with.
Lucky lucky lucky

But then again we wouldn't race if there wasn't a thrill factor.

Impressed that the lad went back to the car almost straight away - assume that the marshals told him to move back. Out in the middle of nowhere with no support a spare set of hands can be useful but when you've a number of jumpsuits nearby with fire extinguishers, it probably for the best that people stay ot of the way.
