Anyone know if it's being televised at all?

It seems ridiculous that Le Mans gets full 24 hr plus previews, lead ups etc and arguably a harder race (much more demanding on the cars and drivers) gets nothing!

I think ADAC will be streaming it but any other info would be appreciated!

It's not such an important race in the scheme of things. I really want a stream of Pikes Peak, but they don't do one AFAIK.

This is from last year, but some no doubt will be on thi year also

Sport1 TV
The German http://tv.sport1.de/motorsport/index.php TV live feed can only be watched from a German IP address.

ADAC
There should be a live feed link posted on the Official website here http://adac.24h-rennen.de/Home.168.0.html?&L=1 but I've not seen it yet.

Wige Live Stream
There is a live streaming video link here:
http://24hrennen.de/livecast/live_01.asx and it's working for me now.

Sport Auto
There is also another link here if the others don't work:
http://www.sportauto-online.de/24h-rennen-nuerburg...

UK Commentary
The commentary on all of the above will be in German, but you can turn the video volume down and use live Radio LeMans for UK commentary here:

Most of my updates during the race will be directly on thepitwall - but will try to put some stuff here too.

We're travelling out on Wednesday - spent most of the day sorting out my cameras, lenses and so on.

To keep you amused.. some of my photos from last year:

That's exactly why it will be a race! Remember last year, when Marcel Tiemann passed 7 cars before leaving the GP Circuit? The Manthey car was more or less driving off into the distance when it was taken out by that stray Golf.

Yes the GT3 R has been reigned in for this year, but Manthey are wheeling out the RSR again, along side the GT3 R... and at the last VLN were making changes to it to reduce drag to over come the power deficit.

BMW's M3 is running the same restrictors as the RSR (2 x 30mm)

The R8 and the SLS have been allowed more power - and much larger restrictors, but they're also 50kg more than the RSR, and 100KG more than the GT3 R.. the power to weight ratios are quite similar across all the top cars.. and lighter is going to mean longer between pit stops and less tyre wear.

That said all the big cars will have been sandbagging so far this year, and we've had 5 winners in the VLN so far (BMW M3 , Mercedes SLS, Ferrari F458, Porsche Hybrid, Audi R8), so am sure some surprises will show up before next saturday smile

not planning on going through PS3, i was going to use a PC video output cable thingy (VGA??) and hook my laptop up to the tv, and use a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable to hook into the surround sound system biggrin

The Hybrid won overall in VLN?

Not what you'd call a well publicised win!, for something thats pretty important in development terms for Porsche I'd have thought

yes it did! by about 4 seconds from the RSR.

This was before the latest BoP though - where it was further restricted from 465bhp -> 448bhp.

It was quite well publicised - well I was there for the race + watched/photographed it: http://www.thepitwall.com/2011/05/prius-pious-no-l...

Porsche sent a press release out following it "Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid: Efficiency yields first race win", and it was picked up by quite a few sites.

VLN was just a warm up though - the acid test will be the 24h smile

Should also point out that the RSR overall finished only a second behind the F458 in that race too, and that was after deducting a penalty lap to the RSR and 9 of the other top cars. (i.e. the RSR would otherwise have won by a long distance).

Olaf will have something in reserve though, I'm sure.

Do you not just turn the volume down on the stream until you can hear cars and Radio Le Mans rather than on the master volume thing in the bottom right hand corner?

Also Eurosport will be showing the Porsche Carrera Cup World Cup race live at 9:45am on Saturday morning
