To all Drivers of the Dunlop TVR European Challenge..

Please note as you all know by now we lost our Donnington race @ the end of July we tried to get a alternative circuit but they did not have enough time to run or race......

We have been offered a very prestigious meeting, it is the World Touring Car support race @ Donington on Friday 15th July, we will get our Qual + 2 races on this day....

John Reid needs to know how many of you can do this race, we don't need any other response other than a Yes or a No as this is the only race we can get and still have a Donington meeting, please note this is not a easy meeting to get hold of at present and John doesn't think we will be able to replace this meeting other wise....

We need to know how many cars will be racing before JR can say yes to this meeting before Wen 29th June....

For those of you who want to stay on after our race your tickets will get you in on Sat & Sunday to watch the WTC..

Please confirm your attendance to John Reid please.

Great news, should get a good turn out for this one, Maybe get some TVR only parking for all the TVRs.

Due to current state of repairs and real life, I'm going to have to say NO.
Will come and help out though.

With the media people on the backfoot TVR spectator parking shouldnt be an issue. We should also be in our own section of the paddock.

The level of hospitality I can pull together though is under review due to logistics issues.

Is that a YES from you then Ivor?

Can’t see there being a crowd on the Friday, Andy, unless you are taking one with you wink

John has done incredibly well to secure an alternative at Donington at all, let alone so close to the original date. I’m trying to make it but have a few things to resolve before I can give a definite yes or no, but I’d like to do it if I can.

My experience of big meetings like this is you are the lowest of the food chain and often not treated terribly well…. stuck in the furthest corner of the paddock, more officious security than ever (if that is possible at Donington!) and little respect from the ‘headline’ teams (e.g. blocking the pit lane when support races are qualifying or racing).

That said, it’s the closest the majority of us will get to a World championship, so provided you accept being messed about a bit and don’t let it worry you, should be a fun day. And as someone said to me earlier, some of the World’s finest shopping trollies to look at smile

And well done again to John and BRSCC for coming up with something so quickly

'Kin brill. After re-scheduling, once the dates were finalised, the whole of my working year with my opposite number so I could do Snett, Donny and The Rock, one of them is now axed due to someone's incompetence. I think I'll go and eat worms. So, to whom it may concern I cannot fit the 15th in as I am at work.

Absoluely Andy.
I've only done one other "big weekend"
Time Attack 2007
Again a bounced date (iirc) and yes we were in a paddock in maidstone, and it was all a bit hurried and chaotic (by them not us wink )
but
I seem to remember the gate was 20,000 (mainly cap wearing scooby drivers) but they loved us!
Seeing Paddock grandstand FULL and all stood up...magic.

I realise its a Friday, but I bet their friday is busier than our Sundays! biggrin

GTFs are intending to be there (checking logistics now)
Danny
Andy H (hopefully)

Should be good.

We did a support race at an FIA GT meeting at Silverstone in 2007. Came off track into the pits to find a pick up truck and a GT3 car linked with a tow rope blocking the entire pit lane. Was a little frustrating (understatement!) - and the team involved couldn't have cared less.

On the plus side the Vitaphone GT1 prat perch was very comfortable and we had a wide choice of TV channels on an impressive spread of monitors....

I'm very happy to be proved wrong on the crowd front, and maybe the Touring Car element will make a difference, but I reckon we'll be lucky to see anyone. My first Tuscan race was at Rockingham in 2003. A big SEAT promotion, superb weather and a Sugababes gig brought in >40,000 spectators. On the Friday.... not a soul. Same at Silverstone in 2007...

Might be a bit tight,as I need the extra week to map and shake down the Tuscan, loosing 5days over the previous weekend in Spa..

Do we have any indication of Cost is it the same as normal?

Does JR still have a spare tuscan, maybe we could get Huffy in one...

As I said by e-mail - would obviusly prefer a weekend date (as probably most would!), but if this is the only meeting available, and the only way to get the memorial race mid season then I'm in! It is unfortunate as some people who really want to be there won't be able to make it (Em is a teacher and cant get day off work frown )... Just got to hope that something can be confirmed sooner over later so I can get things in place and let people know!! smile
