Don't forget Giovanna Amati if it wasn't for her slowness and lack of qualifying the 1992 Brabham Damon Hill wouldn't have been given her drive, finished just behind Nigel Mansell at the British GP that year. Not 2nd, he was lapped but he was just behind Nigel as he went over the line

Maria Teresa de Filippis drove a 250F Maserati in 4 races in 1958 - best 10th at Spa.
She and Lela Lombardi are the only two to have started races as opposed to entered races, the others failed to qualify.Lombardi is the only one to have scored points ( she got half a point for being sixth in a race that was abandoned )

Firstly there needs to be a woman who is genuinely quick enough. Then they also have to be able to handle the forces on their body and have the stamina to cope with it for a full race.
Physically there's no reason why a woman cannot drive an F1 car at speed - Indycar races go on much longer than F1 and quite possibly have worse cornering loads. So the only reason why we don't have female F1 drivers is because there are very few female karters and female racers in the junior formulas. Get that sorted out and there would be many female drivers knocking on the door in ten years or so.

Desiree Wilson.
Wasn't she the only woman ever to win an F1 race?

She's still mighty quick today with amazing car control. Seeing her drift a Corvette around Goodwood is something to behold. She also won a couple of WSC Championship rounds for Alan de Cadenet's team back in the earky 1980s unless my memory is deceiving me. Wasn't she the only woman ever to win an F1 race?
